Monthly Meetings vs. Quarterly Check-Ins: Which Works Better for CSI Clients?
October 13th, 2025 | 3 min. read

If you’re looking at a monthly accounting service, then you already know that you need to meet with an accountant more than annually.
But did you know that even with a monthly accountant, you don’t need to meet every month – and for some clients, occasional meetings are more ideal? Let’s talk about both meeting frequencies.
At CSI Accounting & Payroll, we’ve provided monthly accounting to small businesses for nearly 60 years. That means we’ve answered these questions plenty of times:
- What does CSI do to make sure we meet at the right times?
- Why are monthly meetings better for some clients?
- Why should some clients meet only occasionally?
How CSI Determines Meeting Frequency
As a monthly accounting firm, we used to encourage monthly meetings for all. But over time, while we’ve found that many clients still want monthly meetings, others do not.
So, how do we determine what’s best? We don’t. We leave it up to you to decide when you want to meet.
During onboarding, we will be in touch weekly to help you settle in – whether it’s a quick meeting, phone call, or even just an email. Then, we will determine how often you want to meet (and you can change your mind at any time).
Not sure of the answer? Read more about when monthly is better and when occasionally is better!
When Monthly Meetings Are Better
Is meeting each month overkill? For some, sure. But for others, this is ideal. We encourage monthly meetings for clients who:
- Are new to working with CSI.
- Have big goals or long-term plans.
- Are experiencing rapid business growth.
- Plan to have us handle their individual taxes and have things besides their business that will influence them.
- Want to review the monthly financial statements that we provide.
Even if these don’t apply to you, you’re always welcome to meet with your accountant monthly. They love being used as a sounding board for business decisions!
When Occasional Meetings Are Better
Is meeting quarterly enough? If you don’t meet any of the conditions in the above section, it definitely could be.
After all, there are times throughout the year when there’s not much to talk about, and you may occasionally feel too short on time to meet. We get it!
You can manage with meeting less frequently as long as you prioritize tax planning meetings and take advantage of contacting us with unlimited, one-off questions.
