Just like with other large payroll providers, the negative reviews say that human support is unhelpful and unresponsive, leaving them waiting in a phone queue and struggling to resolve time-sensitive or advanced issues. And, on our end, we’ve had plenty of clients who have come from Paychex. We personally found a few instances of payroll deductions and Minnesota’s PFML accounts not being set up properly (due to clients being forced to do this on their own without the proper knowledge). We also saw some owner wages being taxed incorrectly (often in unemployment opt-in states when the owner does not opt in but still has their wages submitted and pays unemployment).
Long story short, Paychex can be a great choice for business owners who are experienced in running payroll or confident that they can navigate it with minimal error.

We don’t get negative reviews about our payroll service because of our focus on accuracy, error resolution, and customer service.
